Smartphone
My Smartphone is smart, smart, smart. Yup, that’s what my phone is. I bet you have one and most everyone you know has one too. Yes, I can call, text, tweet, surf, and you name it I can do it with that smart device I have. Ask it questions and Siri will answer. I can plug in a location and it will take me there. Well I can even take pictures, look at the weather, listen to music, check emails, read books, check markets, move pivots, and even send my grandchildren a goofy Snapchat. If that’s not smart I don’t know what is. How did I ever get along without one? Is my phone really smart though?
Smarter Than You Think
I will ask Siri to make a call, Google something, or navigate and get frustrated with the results until I once asked Siri a question about religion. The answer she give me was “That is up to you Phil, not me”. Well what do you know, she got me there! Why I was wasting time asking my phone questions I don’t know. The scary part was I needed that phone to explain that it is up to me to tell others about Jesus! What can I do though, I am just one person?
It’s Up To Me, Not My Phone
Well I picked up my Bible and Siri was right. It is up to me to spread the Word of God. Jesus tells us to “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” Mark 16:15, and again in Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all the things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age”.
Jesus not only instructs us to spread His Word but assures us that no matter where He leads us, we will never be without His presence. Psalm 96:3 tells us to “Declare his glory among nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples.” Also further encouragement is found in Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” I may feel like giving up but if I unlock Gods grace in just one person, how many people might they share the Good News with? Now that would be something to tweet about!
God’s Message
What could the disciples have been able to accomplish with a smartphone? We better not mess with history but we have that technology in our pockets. Maybe, just maybe, I need to listen to what my smartphone has to say more often.
God is sending you a message, what does it say?
Lord, help me use the resources I have available to reach out to those who do not believe. Give me strength and courage to make it my daily plan to tell lost souls about You and show them the path to salvation. Amen.
